Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CertLock, operated by Renew Regime LLC (“CertLock,” “we,” or “us”), handles information when you use the CertLock mobile application and website (together, the “Service”). Questions may be sent to renewregime@proton.me.

The short version

CertLock is built to keep your study activity on your device. The app does not require an account, does not sell personal information, and does not use your study history to build an advertising profile.

Information stored on your device

CertLock stores your quiz answers, streak, domain mastery, session history, settings, selected unlock duration, Quiet Hours state, onboarding status, and notification preferences locally on your device. The bundled Security+ question bank also lives in the app. Deleting the app removes this locally stored information unless your operating system retains a device backup.

Screen Time and selected applications

CertLock uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to place shields over applications you select. Apple provides privacy-preserving application and category tokens for this purpose. CertLock uses these selections on your device to operate the blocking feature and does not receive a readable list of your broader app activity or browsing history.

Information processed automatically

We may receive limited technical information needed to operate and improve the Service, such as app version, device and operating-system version, purchase status, and crash or diagnostic information. We do not use this information for cross-app advertising.

Subscriptions and payments

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment-card or banking details. CertLock uses RevenueCat to confirm subscription entitlement, renewal state, expiration, and purchase restoration. Apple and RevenueCat process this information under their own privacy policies.

Notifications and audio

If you grant permission, CertLock schedules local reminders related to your study streak. These reminders are generated from information on your device and are suppressed during earned Quiet Hours. Sound and haptic settings are also stored locally and may be changed in the app.

How we use information

• to provide the quiz, shielding, temporary unlock, Quiet Hours, and progress features;
• to confirm premium access and restore purchases;
• to deliver notifications you have enabled;
• to maintain security, diagnose problems, and improve reliability; and
• to respond to support requests and legal obligations.

How we disclose information

We may disclose limited information to service providers that help operate subscriptions, app distribution, diagnostics, and support. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or support a business transfer. We do not sell personal information for money or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Data retention

Core study and settings data remains on your device until you clear it or delete the app. Subscription and limited diagnostic records may be retained by Apple, RevenueCat, or other service providers according to their policies and legal obligations. Support messages are retained only as reasonably necessary to address the request and maintain business records.

Your choices and rights

• Change or revoke Family Controls and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
• Edit selected apps, unlock duration, sounds, and reminders inside CertLock.
• Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple account.
• Delete the app to remove app-local data from your device.
• Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information we may hold, subject to applicable law.

Children’s privacy

CertLock is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information involved. No system is completely secure. Our service providers may process limited information in the United States and other jurisdictions where they operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product or law changes. When we do, we will revise the date above and provide additional notice where appropriate.
